German knight, The second half of 13 century
Border Margravate Brandenburg appeared on the conquered German feudal Slavic lands and is the center of German colonization in the east central Europe. The shield knight family crest surname von Bredow: a silver (white) box red scaling-ladder with gold (yellow) beams. Ornaments (crests) on their helmets were popular in Germany and in the 13 century were worn not only in tournaments, but also in the battle. Helmet ornament names delusion is a white goat with a protruding red tongue, golden horns and hoofs.
Apart from the usual sword hanging on his belt in his hand a knight's big two-handed sword - the bastard. Beat this sword was applied, keeping both hands, and drove suspended to the saddle.
