Moscow strelets, 17 century
Strelets, as regular troops of the Moscow State, appeared in 1550. Tsar Ivan IV the Terrible before going to Kazan commanded shooters away from 3000 election archers and put them in Moscow, Vorobieva settlement. Strelets service was voluntary and are usually hereditary. Sagittarians received from the Treasury an annual salary and cloth for tailoring "the serving dresses". In addition to the service they were engaged in trade and crafts, being released from duties and taxes.
