During the Civil War and military intervention, as part of 30 flotillas of the Red Fleet and 14 armies of the Red Army fought: one naval expeditionary division, three naval brigades, 8 naval regiments, 17 naval battalions, including a ski battalion of sailors and a 3rd separate battalion of marines, 131 naval detachments and 11 companies with a total strength of 75 thousand people.
These detachments and units were recruited at the beginning of the Civil War, as a rule, on a voluntary basis, were distinguished by high morale and combat qualities and were used in defense in the most important sectors of the front, and in the offensive - in the direction of the main attack. They also solved the main tasks in amphibious operations on the seas, lakes and rivers.
